Courtney Cooper

courtney.CI©BRantGamma.CI6L3198Courtney Cooper is a graduate of Rice University as well as a 5* level Three Day Event Rider. She has competed for the last 20+ years with different horses in most aspects of English riding competition.

Courtney is the head trainer and instructor at C Square Farm working with her own horses, sales horses, horses in training as well as riding students. She is well versed in training horses of all ages and experiences including: halter breaking foals, ground driving and backing youngsters, and training horses on the flat and over fences in all disciplines and levels.  In addition to Eventing, in which Courtney has competed successfully including completing the 2016 Kentucky Three Day Event, she also has experience in the Hunter/Jumper ring.

During her youth she trained and showed event horses with Martha Anne Shires, who was a member of the 1978 World Championship Canadian Team.  Courtney then worked with Michael Page, Olympic Bronze Medalist, at Old Salem farm where she was able to help with top-level hunters and jumpers at numerous A-rated horse shows.

Attending Rice University in Houston, Courtney graduated with a degree in Managerial Studies and Psychology.  During this time she worked with Alyce Hinkle, a local Eventing trainer, and it was with Alyce that she competed in her first three day event.  After completing her studies Courtney moved East and settled in Atlanta, working with Lois Lann, the early trainer of Sassy Reason, the first American horse to win the prestigious Burghley Three Day Event in England.

Courtney supported her riding interests through her professional career, building an insurance business with Northwestern Mutual. While there she achieved Million Dollar Round Table status, and earned the Charter Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant professional designations.

During this time Courtney was traveling to Unionville, Pennsylvania to train with World Champion & Olympian Bruce Davidson on a long-distance basis. After discussing her riding goals with Bruce and Lois it was decided she would move north to Unionville in order to work with horses full time.

Courtney has lived in southeastern Pennsylvania since 1996 and has trained with Olympic riders Bruce Davidson, James Wofford, Phillip Dutton and currently Boyd Martin as well as with Belinda Narin Wertman, Mara DePuy, Sally Cousins, Tim Mellot, Chris Hickey, Jan Byyny and Silva Martin.  She founded C Square Farm in partnership with her husband Neal Camens, and she actively teaches, trains and competes from her home farm in Nottingham, Pennsylvania.  She has carved out a reputable niche in the equestrian industry for C Square Farm by specializing in horse sales and by making successful horse and rider partnerships.  In addition C Square Farm has bred and foaled over a dozen talented home bred horses that Courtney produces for her future event program.
