February 5 -
Pine Top Farm Horse Trials - Thomson, Georgia |
| The Event Team began the year "hitting for
the cycle" with horses finishing in 1st through 5th place. Leading
the way was Kathy and Susan Bell's Snowy, who with Courtney riding
finished on his dressage score of 26.5 to win in Beginner Novice.
Next in line was Rebecca Gray on her own Which One's That; they added no
jumping faults to the 2nd-place dressage test to take home the red ribbon.
Next was Sara Gartland on her own Ever Clever, a former C Square Farm
horse, who finished 3rd in the Junior Novice on her dressage score of 33.
They were followed by Courtney riding Amy Lindgren's Mullacash Paddy (aka
Winter Sky), who also finished on their dressage score to take home 4th at
the training level and Christine Weir on her own Severn Dandelion
(Teaspoon), who again finished on their dressage score, to take home 5th
place at Novice. Rounding out the day was Much More, who had a good
go, but finished out of the ribbons at the training level.
A pretty good showing for the first competition of the year!

February 12-13 -
Sporting Days Horse Trials - Aiken,
South Carolina |
| Next the Event Team stayed even closer to their winter
home in Aiken, competing at nearby Sporting Days Farm. Rebecca Gray
lead the way moving back up to the preliminary level on Which One's That.
They did well in all three phases, with a clean cross county round, adding
only a single rail in stadium jumping to finish 7th. Courtney rode three
horses at the training level: Toy Master (Tucker), Lindy, and Much More
(Phelps). Tucker and Lindy both jumped clean in stadium jumping and
cross country to finish 5th and 7th respectively. Phelps did well
also, but added a stop cross county to finish out of the ribbons.
Also competing were Christine Weir and Severn Dandelion (Teaspoon).
In the horse's first competition at the training level, they did well
adding on a single stop on cross country for a successful completion.

February 19-20 -
Pine Top Farm Horse Trials - Thomson, Georgia |
| Lord Robert (Bob) started his season at the
intermediate level. He and Courtney put in good performances in all
three phases, but not without revealing some things that they needed to
work on before their first advanced level competition in the beginning of
March. Courtney rode Toy Story at the preliminary level, where like
Bob, they were a little rusty, finishing with no cross country jumping
penalties, but out of the ribbons. |

February 26-27 -
Paradise Farm Horse Trials - Aiken, South Carolina |
| This weekend brought several first-time
outings for the season. At the novice level, Kathy Bell rode Snowy,
with good showings in all three phases, including no jumping faults to
finish in 6th place. Also competing at Novice were Terri Kropp on
Lindy, newly acquired from Amy Lindgren. They put in a good dressage
test and had an excellent cross country round; however an unfortunate
error of course, kept her from officially completing. Also, in their
first outing for the season, Amy Lindgren rode Mullacash Paddy (Winter
Sky) at Beginner Novice. They did well adding only some time and no
jumping faults to finish outside the ribbons. Courtney competed with Toy
Master at the preliminary level and Much More at Training; they both went
well, including no cross country jumping penalties, but finished outside
the ribbons. Also competing were Christine Weir on Teaspoon, who again had
a good outing at the training level, before they headed back home to
Maryland.
