March 4-5 -
Pine Top Farm Horse Trials - Thomson, Georgia |
|
This competition offered only Advanced and Intermediate divisions, so
Courtney rode Lord Robert (Bob) and Toy Story (Woody), while the other
horses stayed home. Bob completed his first Advanced, putting in a good
dressage test and a clean stadium jumping round. With only a glance
off at a triple corner combination on cross county, he finished well, but
out of the ribbons. Woody also had a good outing, jumping clean on cross
country in his first event back at intermediate after not competing in
2004. |

March 11-13 -
Jumping Branch Farm Horse Trials - Aiken, South Carolina |
| With this event oversubscribed, only two C
Square Farm horses competed, Much More (Phelps) and Snowy. Courtney
rode Phelps at the training level. They put in a wonderful dressage
test, and then jumped clean on cross county and in stadium jumping to win
their division. Kathy Bell rode Snowy in only her 2nd event at the
novice level. They built on their success at the Paradise Farm Horse
Trials, with good showings in all three phase as well as they took home a
3rd place ribbon. |

20 -
Sporting Days Horse Trials - Aiken, South Carolina |
| Kathy Bell again rode Snowy at the novice
level. The pair again continued to improve, finishing with no
jumping penalties on their dressage score of 24 to win their division and
take home a blue ribbon. Courtney
rode Toy Story (Woody) and Much More (Phelps) in our last event of the
season in Aiken. Woody competed in an Intermediate-Preliminary division,
where he did Intermediate dressage and stadium jumping and Preliminary
cross country. He has a great outing adding no jumping penalties and
only a few seconds of time to finish in 4th place. Phelps again
competed at the training level. He had a very good dressage test and
a clean cross country round. A single mishap in stadium kept him out
of the ribbons.

March
25-27 -
Poplar Place Horse Trials - Hamilton, Georgia |
| We then packed up in Aiken, and headed west
for our last event before going home. Courtney rode Lord Robert at
the advanced level. They put in an ever improving performance in the
difficult Advanced dressage test, before setting off on the very
challenging cross county course. Courtney and Bob went around boldly
with no problems until their overly exuberant jump into the 2nd water
complex lead to some steering issues in the water. They recovered
and finished in fine fashion, adding a good performance in stadium the
next day. Woody competed in the CIC** (Intermediate Level International
Horse Trials). He completed the difficult cross country course
without any jumping faults, but his performance in the other two phases
kept him out of the ribbons. Much More put in good dressage and
stadium jumping tests, but heavy thunderstorms forced the cancellation of
his cross country.
