EVENT TEAM RESULTS

JULY 2005

July 16-17 - Surfire Horse Trials - Purcellville, Virginia
On Saturday, the two "Toys" competed at the Training Level.  Courtney rode Toy Story, putting in a good dressage test and jumping clean in stadium and cross county.  They had much fun, but some time on cross country kept them out of the ribbons.  Kathy Bell rode Toy Master in her first event competing at the Training Level.  The pair placed 2nd in the dressage, moved up to 1st after stadium, and jumping clean on cross country.  They also added some time on cross country to finish in 7th place.

On Sunday, Courtney and Kathy returned, with Courtney riding Much More at Preliminary and Kathy riding Snowy at Novice.  Courtney and "Phelps" continued their successful outings finishing on their dressage score of 30, to take home the 3rd place ribbon.  Kathy and Snowy did well in dressage and stadium, placing 2nd going into cross country.  However Snowy slipped at the approach to a fence combination, and they had to cross their tracks, earning a penalty and falling to 8th place.

Rebe Gray rode Which One's That at Preliminary.  They had good showings in all three phases finishing in 6th place.

July 21 - 24 - Stuart Horse Trials - Victor, New York
The Event Team headed north to near Rochester, New York for one of our favorite events.  Kathy Bell lead off things competing on Snowy and Toy Master at the Novice Level.  Both horses did dressage and cross county on Thursday, and as has been the case recently, Snowy was leading the way.  "Tucker" warmed up well for dressage, but found the atmosphere at the competition ring a little electric, placing below his normal dressage standing.  Both horses jumped clean and within the time on cross country.  In stadium, "Tucker" jumped well adding only a rail, to move up a placing, while Snowy jumped clean holding onto his 1st pace standing.  Kathy and Snowy also had the lowest Novice Score Overall, winning the Sweet Hickory Trophy.

At Training Level, Courtney rode Toy Story and Sara Gartland rode Ever Clever.  As with his half brother, "Tucker," Woody found the dressage environment exciting.  The pair went on to jump clean in cross county and stadium, finishing outside the ribbons.  Sara and "Begley" placed 5th in the dressage, but had a green stop on cross county.  They came back to jump clean in stadium to finish out of the ribbons.

At Preliminary, Courtney rode Much More and Rebe Gray competed on Which One's That.  Placing uncharacteristically low in the dressage, Courtney and "Phelps" went on to jump clean on cross country and to add only a rail in stadium to finish in 9th place.  Rebe and "Pit" tied for 10th in the dressage and went on to jump clean on cross country, also only adding a rail in stadium to move up and finish in 3rd.

Several other horses with connections to C Square Farm competed at the event, with considerable success.  At the training level, Carolyn Freeman and Classic Touch finished 7th; Tribbie McKinnon and Carlingford Sky  finished 10th.  At the novice level, Alexandra Tirrell and Vintage Trial finished 5th; Jane Clapp and Celtic Diamond III finished 11th; and Allie Keresman and Mystic Dora finished 15th.
