August 7 - Pleasant Hollow Farm Horse Trials -
Coopersburg, Pennsylvania |
|
Courtney took the weekend off from competing and instead had a busy day
coaching five students riding six horses. Headlining the day were
summer students Kiri Kopcke and Jen Bell along with Nikki Gregory
competing at the Beginner Novice Level. Nikki and Kiri were
competing in their first horse trials while Jen was competing for the
first time since the summer of 2004. All three did well in dressage,
cross county, and stadium jumping, with Nikki riding Affaire to a 4th
place finish; Kiri placing 5th on Joy Busbice's Chester Street, and Jen
earning 7th place on Hanna.
Joining those three were Kim Russell on Amazing Again. They
competed at the novice level, finishing second. Also competing was
Kathy Bell on Snowy at Novice and Toy Master at Training. Kathy did
well with both horses, but with the added work of two horses at two levels
all in one day, finished out of the ribbons.

August 13-14 -
Fair Hill International Horse Trials - Elkton, Maryland |
| Courtney and Much More led off on Saturday.
In his first competition at the intermediate level since being imported to
the US, "Phelps" did quite well, jumping clean on the cross country with
one of the best times of all 65 competitors. He did add a few rails
in stadium jumping to finish 9th. On Sunday Courtney competed
in the morning riding Toy Story at the preliminary level. They put
in good performances in all three phases, adding only a few seconds of
time to their dressage score of 35 to finish in 3rd place. Sunday
afternoon belonged to Kim Russell on Amazing Again and Jen Bell on Hanna,
both competing at Novice. Kim and Maize had another good outing
doing well all around to finish in 5th place. Jen, who was competing
for the first time at the novice level, was a late entry ftaking the spot
of a scratch in a division filled with professional riders. So, even
though Hanna and her did great, adding no jumping or time penalties, to
finish on their dressage score, they ended up outside the ribbons.
