May 6-7 - MCTA Horse Trials at Shawan Downs-
Hunt Valley, Maryland |
|
The "Girls" were the stars of the weekend with Curvaceous, Lily, and Hanna
(all mares) turning in good performances. Hanna and Neal led off
the weekend competing for the first time this year. Riding at the
Novice Level, they had a rough dressage test, but jumped well,
including a very good looking cross county round to finish in the middle
of a division of 30. Also competing at Novice, were Lily and
Courtney. Fifth in the dressage, the pair put in a clean
cross country round, but added two rails to finish in 10th place.
On Sunday, Curvaceous and Courtney topped the other performances.
Competing at the Training Level, they placed third in the dressage and
then put in clean stadium and cross country rounds, moving up to 2nd
place.

May 13-14 - Plantation Field Horse Trials -
Unionville, Pennsylvania |
|
Curvaceous followed up in style on her performance the week before.
With Courtney riding her at the Training Level, they put in a wonderful
dressage test, scoring 27.5, over 70%, to lead their division.
They went on to jump clean in stadium and add only a few seconds to take
home the blue ribbon. Also winning the dressage at the Training
Level were Courtney and Ever Clever. They had a clean cross
county round, but added a rail in stadium to finish 4th. Courtney
also rode Toy Story at Intermediate. The pair did well in all three
phases, adding only a rail in stadium and some time on cross country to
finish in 7th place. Emily Hamel rode Grenadier Guard in her last
event before heading home to Wisconsin. Competing at the Training
Level, they did well in all three phases to finish on their dressage
score in 3rd place. Sara Gartland competed in her first
Preliminary Level event. Riding Always a Lady, she also did well
in all three phases to finish 3rd as well.

Hanna and Neal competed again at the Novice Level. As was the case
at MCTA, they started off a little slowly in the dressage. They
added clean stadium jumping and cross country rounds, finishing out of
the ribbons. Katherine Brewer competed in her first event at the
Novice Level, riding Which One's That, whom she and her family purchased
from C Square Farm last year. They did well in all three phases,
adding only a rail in stadium jumping to their dressage score to finish
in 3rd place. |
