| We started off the weekend,
with the first competition ever for any of our homebreds.
Courtney showed Who's a Star (Tag), our 4-year old by
Aberjack out of our own Heavenly Star (Faith), in the young
event horse class. Tag was very brave learning about
the sights and sounds of a horse trials in addition to the
task of actually being ridden in the dressage ring and
jumping jumps. We look forward to competing Tag in a
full horse trials later this year. At Training, Courtney
rode Havasu Canyon and Monster Boy. Havasu had another
good outing, with a nice dressage test, only a rail in
stadium, and a clean cross country round over the
challenging course to finish in 8th place. Courtney and
Monster Boy put in a good dressage test and a clean stadium
jumping round, but with his recent arrival from Florida,
Courtney elected not to run cross country.
At Novice, Courtney rode Queenie and Neal competed for
the first time this year on Hanna. Courtney and
Queenie did very well in the dressage, placing 3rd with a
31.1. They went on to jump clean in stadium and on
cross country to maintain their placing and finish in 3rd
place. Neal had his best dressage score ever, 36.3; he
and Hanna jumped clean in stadium, adding a little time on
cross country to finish in 9th place.

Havasu but in a good dressage test, added a rail in stadium

Monster Boy also did well in the dressage with a 32.5 before
jumping clean in stadium and adding only a little time on
cross country to finish 5th. At Novice, it was the weekend

and Neal riding Hanna. The three pairs did well in all
three phases, with Queenie and Alden finishing 5th and Hanna
finishing 6th. |
