June 1-3 - Waredaca Horse Trials -
Olney, Maryland |
| The weekend began with Young
Event Horse Classes on Friday. Competing for the first
time was three-year-old Star Dazzler (Simon). He
competed in hand, finishing first against other
three-year-olds, and scoring better than all but one of the
fourteen horses competing in-hand: yearlings, two- and
three-year-olds. Competing in his second competition,
Simon's half brother, four-year-old Tag (Who's a Star)
scored much better than in his first outing, placing less
than four percent behind the leader. Saturday brought
Training Level competition, with Becca Golian competing with
The Color of Kells (Paul), and Courtney riding four: Havasu
Canyon, Chocolate, Monster Boy, and Alden's List. All
of the horses did well with Alden, Monster Boy, and Havasu
all finishing on their dressage score (jumping or time
penalties), placing 1st, 3rd, and 4th respectively.
Becca and Paul added just a few faults in stadium jumping to
place sixth, and Chocolate also did well, but finished out of the
ribbons.

June 9-10 - Plantation Field Horse Trials -
Unionville, Pennsylvania |
| In her third riding Patti
Moshanko's The Color Of Kells (Paul), Becca Golian moved up
to Preliminary. They did well in all three phases, but
added some time on cross country to finish outside the
ribbons. On Saturday, Courtney once again had a busy day
competing four horses at Training. Havasu Canyon led
the way, jumping clean on cross country and adding only a
few rails to his dressage score to finish in 2nd place.
Monster Boy also jumped clean on cross country, but added a
little time and a rail in stadium finish 5th.
Finishing on her dressage score was Alden's List in 6th
place. Chocolate added some rails and a little time on
cross country to place 10th.
We returned on Sunday, with Courtney riding We Will See
and Who's a Star (Tag) at Beginner Novice and Neal riding
Hanna at Novice. Neal started things off doing well in
the dressage and then finishing stadium and cross country
with no faults to place 2nd. We Will See also placed
2nd, finishing on her dressage score. Four-year-old
Tag, who was competing in his first horse trials, had a good
day improving as he went. He added only a rail in
stadium, and then on cross county after some stops early on,
picked up on his job and bravely jumped the rest of the
course. |
