| Courtney rode Havasu Canyon and Toy Story at Preliminary.
Courtney and Havasu placed 3rd out of 19 in the dressage with a 30.4,
They went on to jump clean in stadium and on cross country, adding a
little time on cross country to finish in 4th place. Toy story did
well in all three phases; he jumped clean in both stadium and cross
country but finished out of the ribbons. |

| Competing 5 horses in a wacky weather weekend, Courtney and the Team
had their hands full (or at least their boots full of water) at times.
Friday brought dressage and several inches of rain. At Novice,
Courtney rode Tally Ho and Ms. Flintstone. each did very well, placing
1st in the dressage. Who's a Star (Tag) and Maggie both competing for
the first time at Training, joined experienced eventer Direct Glenfiddich at that level. "Glen" lead the way in the dressage,
placing 1st. Saturday brought clearer skies and a whole lot of wind.
Building on their success from dressage, Courtney and all of the horses
jumped well finishing without any jumping or time faults. By
Sunday, the cold air came in with temperatures starting off in the 20s.
First to compete in stadium jumping was Tally Ho. She jumped clean
and under time, holding on to her 1st place standing. Ms.
Flintstone jumped well but added two rails to fall a few places.
At Training, Glen jumped clean finishing in 1st. Tag and Maggie
each added one rail, both successfully completing their first events at
the Training Level. |

| On Tuesday, Courtney rode Who's a Star (Tag) in the five-year old
Young Event Horse division. The pair did very well, placing 1st
with a score of 75.7%, which counts as a qualifying competition for the
Young Event Horse Championship at the AECs in September . On
Wednesday, Courtney competed with Donnlara at Novice in her first
horse trials. They had a good dressage test and went on to jump
clean in cross country and stadium to place 2nd. |

| With Courtney riding Heaven Scent and Dunlavin No Pajamas for the
first time in completion, both horses competed at Novice. They
both did well in all three phases, with Heaven Scent placing 1st and
Dunlavin No Pajamas placing 3rd. Also ridden by Courtney at Novice
was Icy Mist, who finished in 4th place. Kelley Merette rode
Monster Boy at Training. They also had a good outing joining the
others in the ribbons with a 4th-place finish. |
| March 21-23 - Southern
Pines II Horse Trials - Raeford, North Carolina |
| Having left our winter home in Aiken, the Even Team stopped at the
Southern Pines Horse Trials for a final competition before returning
home. Friday brought dressage with good performances from all the
horses. Leading the way were Who's a Star and Courtney at
Training. They earned a score of 27 (73%) to lead their
division. Courtney riding Havasu Canyon at Preliminary and Kelley
riding Monster Boy at Training also did very well placing 3rd and 5th
respectively. Rounding out the day were good tests by Courtney and
Toy Story at Preliminary as well as Courtney and Dunlavin No Pajamas at
Training. Saturday was cross country day for Kelley and Monster.
They went clean and fast adding only a few time faults when many in her
division had quite a few. The effort moved them up to 3rd place.
All of Courtney's five horses competed in stadium jumping, and all of
them jumped clean maintaining or improving their standings.
On Sunday, Kelley and Monster Boy closed out their competition with a
good round to finish 3rd. Courtney once again had clean jumping
performances on all of her horses with only a few time faults
throughout. Final placings included Who's a Star in 1st, Havasu
Canyon in 3rd, No Pajamas in 5th, and Toy Story out of the
ribbons. |
