May 30 - June 1 - Waredaca Horse Trials - Olney, Maryland
Courtney led off the weekend competing Star Dazzler in the 4-year-old Young Event Horse Competition on Friday.  They did well, finishing in 2nd place.

A busy Saturday followed with Courtney competing Havasu Canyon at Intermediate and fours horses at Training.  Havasu continued his success at Intermediate performing well in the dressage and then being only one of four horses to go clean and under time in stadium and on cross country to finish in 3rd place.

Except for two delays while thunderstorms went through the area. Courtney went from one horse to the next at Training.  Dunlavin Fox led the way, adding double clears in stadium and on cross country to win his division.  Who's a Star (Tag) also jumped two double clears to place 2nd in his division.  Chocolate added four faults in stadium but went clean on cross country to finish 4th; Courtney and he should receive extra credit since the cross country took place during a very heavy rain, with Chocolate fighting to keep the water out of his ears as well as went around.  Donnlara also did well but finished outside the ribbons.

Sunday brought yet more rain along with Toy Story competing at Preliminary and Icy Mist at Novice.  Woody, placed 3rd in dressage and added only a rail in stadium to a clear cross country round to hold on to his position, finishing 3rd.  Icy did well in all three phases placing 10th.

May 17-18 - Fair Hill International Horse Trials - Elkton, Maryland
Competing for the second time at Intermediate, Courtney and Havasu Canyon did well in all three phases, placing 6th in dressage before a good stadium round and excellent cross country  performance to move up and finish 5th.

At Training, Kentucky Bourbon lead the way, placing 3rd in dressage and jumping clean in stadium and on cross country to finish in 2nd place.  Joining Bourbon at Training was Donnlara moving up from Novice for the first time.  She also did very well in the dressage and jumped clean in stadium and on cross country to finish 3rd.

Sunday brought Novice and some very heavy rain; Courtney rode Icy Mist and Franklin.  Icy did well in all three phases jumping double clear in stadium and on cross country. Franklin had a very good dressage test, tying for 2nd.  He jumped a clear round in stadium, but unfortunately had a technical elimination going off course on cross country in the heavy rain.  Neal also competed Hanna at Novice.  They did well in dressage and jumped clean on cross country; placing 6th.  (Rain forced the cancellation of their stadium round.)

Back at nearby Plantation Field, Courtney had a busy weekend riding six horses.  Franklin, competing in his first Horse Trials, led the team; competing at Beginner Novice, he finished on his dressage score in 2nd place.  At Novice, Icy Mist put in a good dressage test, added a rail in stadium, and jumped clean on cross country to finish 7th.

At Training, Courtney rode Dunlavin No Pajamas, Dunlavin Fox, Dark Chocolate Mousse, and Kentucky Bourbon.  No Pajamas (Streaker) placed 3rd in the dressage, and went on to jump clean and under time in stadium and on cross country to finish 3rd.  Fox tied for 2nd in the dressage and jumped clean on cross country, but he added a rail ins stadium to finish in 4th place.  Chocolate, did well in all three phases, jumping clean in stadium and cross county to also finish 4th.  And Bourbon did well in the dressage and jumped clean in stadium, but he had a peek at the water jump on cross county and finished out of the ribbons.

May 1-3 - MCTA Horse Trials at Shawan Downs - Hunt Valley, Maryland
Competing in his first event, our  homebred Star Dazzler (Simon), placed 1st in the 4-year old Young Event Horse Competition. Joining Simon in the YEH classes, was Who's a Star (Tag), who earned his 2nd qualifying score of the year in the 5-year old class making him now eligible for the YEH Championships.

At Novice, Donnlara continued her sting of impressive placings.  She put in a lovely dressage test and jumped clean in stadium and cross country to finish with a score of 29 and the 1st-place ribbon.  Courtney also rode Dark Chocolate Mousse, who did very well in the dressage, scoring 25.8.  He went on to jump clean in stadium, but unfortunately took a peek at the water on cross country to finish 9th.

At Training, Courtney placed 1-2 with Dunlavin No Pajamas finishing 1st and Tag finishing 2nd, each on their dressage scores of 27.9 and 29.5, respectively.  Dunlavin Fox also did well, but as it was his first event of the year, he was a little rusty and finished out of the ribbons.

And at Preliminary, Courtney rode Toy Story, who had solid performances in all three phases to finish 9th.
