On Saturday, Courtney took two horses in
the Training division - Fernhill Dunbyrne (Conor), and Who's
A Star (Tag). The weather started out pretty dismal, and
went from bad to worse as the day wore on. Both horses
posted very good dressage tests, Tag was even placed first
in his division going into the jumping phases. Although Tag
had one unlucky rail in stadium, he jumped clear
cross-country and managed to keep his lead to win one of the
Open Training divisions. Conor posted two double-clears
despite the mucky weather and finished 3rd overall in his
division.
In stark contrast to
Saturday, Sunday was a beautiful, sunny day and we were
definitely thankful for the turnaround. Courtney had two
horses competing in their first Novice horse trials, Mr.
Parks and United Notion. In addition, her 4-year-old
homebred Star Dazzler (Simon) was also entered at Novice,
coming off his win at Radnor Hunt HT. All 3 horses did well
in dressage, in solid places heading into the jumping
phases. Notion unfortunately had an issue at the water and
that ended the day early for him. Parks also was a little
unfocused at the water and racked up some penalties but was
able to finish. Simon proved just how far he has come during
his 4-year-old year and posted two double-clears, finishing
his competition season with a second-place finish! Kelley
also competed Scout in the Novice Championship class but the
pair had a bit of an off day and finished out of the
ribbons.

October 11-
Radnor Hunt Horse Trials - Malvern, PA
Courtney, Kelley, and Neal all competed
at Novice, riding, Star Dazzler (Simon), Scout, and Hanna.
Courtney & Simon lead the way scoring a fantastic 23.7
(76.3%) in dressage to lead the Open Novice Division.
He went on jump clean in stadium and on cross country to
finish on his dressage score and stay in 1st place.
Kelley & Scout also competed in the Open
Novice Division. They placed 12th in dressage, but
then jumped clean in stadium and on cross country to move up
and finish in 7th place. Neal & Hanna competed in the
Novice Rider Division; they placed 4th in dressage and also
jumped clean in stadium and on cross country to maintain
their placing, finishing 4th.
Courtney also rode Who's a Star (Tag)
at the training level. An out of character dressage test
kept them out of the ribbons, but like the other three
horses, they jumped clean in stadium and on cross country.
