Havasu shone bright as Courtney’s most promising and accomplished competition horse this year. Although it was only his first full year of competition and the final third of the season he was unable to compete due to a minor injury, Havasu was still named the Area II Open Intermediate Champion! Courtney acquired him during her trip to Aiken in the Winter of 2006 as a 9-year-old prospect who had raced until he was 8 and had barely jumped before. Only a year later, he was competing successfully at Preliminary and getting ready to move up to Training. Havasu had no trouble with the move up, placing 5th in the OI division at Fair Hill and 3rd in the OI at Waredaca. He was also 5th out of 35 entries after the dressage phase at the Stuart CIC**. This award will hopefully be only the start of his promising future!
