Courtney rode Star Dazzler (Simon) and Scout, both at Training. Competing in separate divisions, each of them did well in the dressage scoring only a few points behind the leaders, both in 6th place. Simon went on to jump clear and under time in stadium jumping and on cross country. With all of the horses ahead of him incurring some faults in at least one of the jumping phases, Simon moved all the way up to finish in 1st place. Scout also jumped clear in stadium and on cross county, but some of those ahead of him did as well, so he only moved up to 4th place. His placing was unaffected by his 2 seconds outside the optimum time on cross country.
