Both C Square Farm Event Team members competing rode at Novice: Neal on Havasu Canyon and Gillian Cowley on Gabriella Rosselini.
Neal was competing for the first time since 2008, when he last competed with Hanna, who retired after 16 years of eventing (5 with Courtney and 11 with Neal). With this year’s Intermediate competition season finished for Havasu, Courtney suggested that Neal ride him at this event, and Neal took her up on the offer. The pair did well in all three phases, including jumping clear in Stadium and on Cross County to finish 10th. More importantly, both horse and rider had a good time.
Gillian was also coming off a break (although somewhat shorter) from competition, as this was her first event since recovering from a non-horse injury at the end of the summer. She and Gabby also had a good day, jumping clear as well to finish 4th. And they also had a good time.
