With many of the horses that Courtney qualified for the AECs now with new owners, Courtney competed on two of our homebreds, 5-year-old Who’s a Star (Tag) and 4-year-old Star Dazzler (Simon) in the Young Event Horse (YEH) National Championships.
With all horses in the Championships previously scoring 70% or better in YEH competitions throughout the country, the competition was tough. Both horses did well in all three phases (Conformation, Dressage, and Jumping), with each of them placing 4th in their respective age group. We were especially pleased with Tag’s overall score of 81.8% as well as his jumping score of 85.1%, the 2nd best jumping score in both age groups.
Tag also competed in the Training Horse Division of the AECs. With several days of heavy rain, cross country for the Preliminary, Intermediate, and Advanced Divisions was cancelled. While the Training Division did go on, Courtney chose not to compete him in the jumping phases.
