Maryland Horse Trials – Adamstown, MD. July 10-11, 2011

Courtney rode three horses at Novice on Saturday: American Outlaw (Wyatt), homebred R Star (Hope), and Vegas, a new edition to the Event Team who was competing in a horse trials for the first time. On Sunday, she returned with Walking on Broadway (Holiday) at Training and Magill, who like Vegas was competing for the first time, at Beginner Novice.

Wyatt led off in good fashion, scoring 30.9 in dressage to place 3rd. Hope did dressage next scoring 29.1 in a different division to tie for 1st. Vegas scored 31.7 to place 6th, a fine performance for what we think was his first time in a dressage ring.

The horses jumped in the same order as dressage, with Wyatt showing his experience and putting in clear rounds in stadium and on cross country to maintain his placing and finish 3rd. Hope also jumped around clear to end up all alone in 1st place.

Vegas was clear over the jumps in stadium, but he shied at the aqueduct jump which had been used for Preliminary earlier in the day and was placed at the side of the ring. He went on to go clear on cross country, ending in a respectable 10th place.

Holiday started Sunday with a good dressage test placing 4th. He went on to jump clear in Stadium and on Cross County and move up to finish 3rd.

Magill scored 33 in his first dressage test. He jumped well in Stadium but added a couple rails. He then went on to jump clear on cross country finishing in 8th place.
