Courtney competed with Rock Star (DJ) at Novice, Sport at Training, R Star (Hope) at Preliminary, and Who’s a Star (Tag) at Intermediate. Summer students Hayley Glofka, with Aristotle (Artie) and Maddie Carey with her own Mother’s Day Angel also competed at Novice.
Courtney & Hope had a good dressage test tying for 2nd place at Preliminary. They went on to jump clear in stadium and on cross country. While they were under the optimum time, the horse they were tied with finished a few seconds closer to it, so Courtney & Hope placed 3rd.
Sport moved up to compete at Training for the first time. Courtney & he had a good dressage test, placing 5th of 18. They added a rail in stadium. On cross country Sport went well, but had a couple green stops at the bank complex where he appeared distracted by the obstacles for all of the levels. They jumped the fence on their third try and went around the rest of the course without any problems.
Tag was back in competition for the first time since competed at the Jersey Fresh CCI 3* in May. Courtney and he had a very good dressage test, placing first out of 17 in Intermediate. They then added a clear stadium round. On cross country, Courtney tried a new bridle on Tag. Unfortunately, it did not work in competition as it did in practice, and he had some stops on course.
In Novice dressage, Courtney & DJ scored 31.7 to tie for 8th. Hayley & Artie as well as Maddie & Angel, both scored 34.8 tying each other in 8th place. DJ jumped clear in stadium, but had a green stop on cross country. Both Artie & Angel had some penalties in stadium jumping. They also both went clear on cross country, finishing in 12th and 13th places.
