Courtney competed at Intermediate with Who’s a Star (Tag), Preliminary with R Star (Hope), Training with Sport, and Novice with Rock Star (DJ). Summer students Haley Glofka on Aristotle (Arti) and Maddie Carey on Mother’s Day Angel competed at Novice.
After a very early start on Saturday (3 am), Courtney led things off with a fabulous dressage test on Hope, earning the best score in any division, 23.6. They had a good stadium round, adding just a rail to stay in first place and then jumped around clear and under time on cross country to bring home the blue ribbon.
Tag also had a good dressage test, leading his division with a 26.4. Courtney and Tag then jumped clear in stadium to hold onto the lead going into cross country on Sunday.
Sport placed 9th in dressage. He and Courtney had 2 rails in stadium and then jump cleared on cross country with just a little time, finishing out of the ribbons. The novice horses all compete on Sunday.
On Sunday, Courtney and Tag jumped clear on cross country. They intentionally went a little slow since they are going Advanced at Millbrook next weekend, adding a few time penalties to finish 2nd. It was DJ’s first “away” event where she stables overnight, as opposed to a 1-day. She did well in dressage, and added a few rails in stadium. On cross country, she was very brave handling the distraction (paths in the woods, people, etc.) but did have a green stop.
Haley and Arti placed 9th in dressage. They had a good stadium round, adding just a rail before jumping clear on cross country with just a little time to finish out of the ribbons. Maddie and Angel placed 8th in dressage but were unfortunately eliminated in stadium jumping.
