Spending a summer as a working student at C Square Farm was the best choice for my equestrian education. The long hours spent in and out of the saddle exposed me to a high level of care and competition that until that point, I had not experienced. I had many firsts during that summer – my first horse trial, first gallop sets, first time helping start a young horse – Courtney always knew what I was capable of and when to push me outside of my comfort zone.
During my summer at C Square, Courtney had a string of upper level and sales horses, which allowed me to hone my grooming skills. I learned how to check legs, expertly clean tack, and perfectly muck a stall. I learned that horsemanship is much more than just riding and I’m proud to say that I was a horseman, not a rider, after spending that summer working for Courtney.
I look back fondly on my time as a working student and I continue to follow Courtney and her “Stars” (I remember when Tag was just a baby!). I would absolutely recommend the working student program to anyone who is ready to work hard and learn a lot. ~ Tey Stiteler
