The weekend began with Young Event Horse Classes on Friday. Competing for the first time was three-year-old Star Dazzler (Simon). He competed in hand, finishing first against other three-year-olds, and scoring better than all but one of the fourteen horses competing in-hand: yearlings, two- and three-year-olds. Competing in his second competition, Simon’s half brother, four-year-old Tag (Who’s a Star) scored much better than in his first outing, placing less than four percent behind the leader.
Saturday brought Training Level competition, with Becca Golian competing with The Color of Kells (Paul), and Courtney riding four: Havasu Canyon, Chocolate, Monster Boy, and Alden’s List. All of the horses did well with Alden, Monster Boy, and Havasu all finishing on their dressage score (jumping or time penalties), placing 1st, 3rd, and 4th respectively. Becca and Paul added just a few faults in stadium jumping to place sixth, and Chocolate also did well, but finished out of the ribbons.
